Motivation Monday #3: Pride is a Protest and a Party
Magic Mentoring
This is my last week serving as the strtgst Magic Mentor Residency for June/Pride Month. I’ve learned so much from the next generation of ad/strategy talent, one 15-to-20 minute hangout at a time. I’m booked through the end of the month, but will be opening up overflow spots for more access. Please refer any BIPOC/LGBTQ professionals who might be interested in a 1:1 session!
🔮 You can also apply to be a Magic Mentor here.
IGTV Interview: Gaysian Pride
For Pride Month, I was interviewed by the Barcelona-based @shrtcttng series, speaking on all things Gaysian Pride, queer Asian American visibility, why the first Pride was a riot, Memoirs of a Gaysha (Rest in Power, Ellie Conant), and behind-the-scenes stories of how award-winning LGBTQ and #BlackLivesMatter campaigns get made that change culture, not just reflect it.
Show creator and host Nicole Ingra cut to the good parts with top takeaways from our talk:
Be the person you wanted to see when you were younger.
Instead of being frustrated, act. Create the change you want to see.
Find the points of joy and share them.
Be the voice in the room. If you are rejected, repackage it and try again.
Highlight the unrepresented, finding the connections with culture and business to get the work out.
*Even if it’s uncomfortable to be highly visible, speak up. People need to hear your message.
